I was an adult once.
It was terrible, so I quit.
Currently watching a reality TV show, and the dad said something like, “She’s 21 years old and she still doesn’t have her direction.” With a heavy implication that she should also find a husband. And he was dead serious—and dead disappointed.
I am here to tell you: eff that noise. You’re 21? GREAT. GO DO EXCITING SHIT. There’s time for everything else...

Mad, Impossible Amy Pond: SHELTER FOR OKLAHOMA →
maureenjohnsonbooks:
In the past, I’ve done some fundraising for Shelterbox when disaster has struck. Shelterbox is going to Oklahoma to aid the people who lost their homes, so I am fundraising again, and asking for your help.
What Shelterbox does is make up these LARGE GREEN BOXES that…

If I was a famous author I would publish a book with ten different endings which all went to print with varying degrees of rarity, but not tell the fans about it so that I could watch their confusion as they disagree over how the story ended. Then when they figured it out I would ‘come clean’, telling them that I had released eleven alternate...

I used to hang out with people at school who didn’t make me feel good. After we hung out I had a pit in my stomach and doubted myself. I have different friends now, who make me happy, who make me feel great. My life is better now that I spend my time with positive people.
This made me realize…

The next time someone asks me why @MaureenJohnson did the #coverflip thing, I’m going to cram a copy of THE GREAT GATSBY down their nose and remind them that if Gatsby and Daisy had been gender-flipped and Gatsby had been a girl doing anything it took to get such a shallow guy, she would have…

THE GIRLY GATSBY
The next time someone asks me why @MaureenJohnson did the #coverflip thing, I’m going to cram a copy of THE GREAT GATSBY down their nose and remind them that if Gatsby and Daisy had been gender-flipped and Gatsby had been a girl doing anything it took to get such a shallow guy, she would have been called both desperate and a slut, and then the book would have been mocked and probably never...

ohmistermagazine asked: Thank you for sharing those writing links yesterday! That brainstorming method you describe is pretty much what I have needed lately to help figure out what I want to include in something I want to work on. And, I like knowing I'm not the only person who writes without an outline!
theworldaccordingtomandy asked: i just finished rereading shades of earth and noticed that there was a question in the first book that was never answered...why did Godspeed launch a year later than intended? or did you answer it in one of the books and i missed it?

Anonymous asked: Hey, I just wanted to drop you an anime recommendation. I saw a post saying that you enjoy killing off characters which is great (that sounds odd...), because that keeps me anticipating what will happen next so I enjoy it. "Attack on Titan" is the sort of show where you really don't know what will happen next and which characters will die. Have a good day! I can't wait for your...

Me: *watching Ever After*
The Husband (who likes zombies and violent movies): This is based on Cinderella?
Me: Yeah.
The Husband: Where's the fairy godmothers?
Me: That's kinda what Leonardo Da Vinci is.
The Husband: That slipper's not made of glass.
The Husband: Why aren't there mice helping to sew her dress?
The Husband: Where's the pumpkin carriage?
Me: Shh.
The Husband: The story's falling apart, that's all I'm saying.
